Serinus canaria domestica (Belgium Fancy Canary)

CB Serinus canaria domestica, Belgium Fancy Canaries. The Belgium Fancy Canary is an Old World breed that was developed in the late 17th Century from the Old Dutch Canary. It is the first breed that was developed for its body shape instead of its song. The breed was almost lost during the First World War and the Great Patriotic War, it was redeveloped by dedicated aviculturists in the 1950's from the remaining stock.
